El Domingo 20 de Junio a las 10:30 am en el Polideportivo Aranjuez se estara celebrando de forma unanime este dia tan tuanis para  aquellos que nos apasiona el skate.

Black Pearl el skate park más grande del mundo

Black Pearl es un complejo privado de más de 18.000 m² (casi dos campos de fútbol como el Santiago Bernabeu) situado en las Islas Caimán. Allí podrás encontrar numerosos bowls, half pipes, quarter pipes, rampas, barandillas, etc para todos los niveles. El skate parkcuenta con tienda para vender material o alquilar. La entrada de día cuesta 16$.

SPM de Shangai el segundo SkatePark más grande del mundo

El segundo skate park más grande del mundo se encuentra en Shangai y es conocido como SMP. Tiene una superficie de 13.700 m². Entre las características principales cabe destacar: Más de 4500m² de superfice para bowls, Park Zone con más de 1750m², plaza y gradas con más de 4100m², área de competición de más de 2000m² y dos rampas de vert.

Nueva Generacion de Skateboarders - Chicas Skaters

Está prometedor saber que cada dia hay más “wilas” que patinan con el skate, hace unos años era casi imposible ver chicas que patinasen, pero ahora (seguramente gracias a internet, con youtube y otros sitios) las chicas encuentran muy facilmente otras chicas para tomar como ejemplo, para ver y darse cuenta que no son las únicas, ni son raras, ni tienen que tener verguenza por patinar, por hacer lo que les llama la atención y que en el fondo les gusta. No se, simplemente está EN TODAS!!

Es cierto que aun así hay muchas chicas que les atrae pero, como somos como somos, se hechan atras: amigas se rien, sus padres algunas veces se lo prohiben, los “maes” (que somos casi siempre idiotas) vamos a nuestro ride y cuando las “wilas” patinan normalmente se queda dividido con el típico chicas por un lado y chicos por otro,… Total que está bien invitar a las chicas a que lo practiquen, a enseñarle lo poco que podamos saber, a animarlas y darles confianza,… está bien???

Por eso queria hacer una noticia hablando de todas esas skaters que salen cada dia (cuando estudios, trabajo o otras cosas se lo permite). También hay que decir que el nivel de muchas chicas skaters es increible, no por ser chicas tienen que tener un nivel bajo, para nada!, muchas nos comerian en trucos y estilo. Y NO ES VARA, A MAS DE UNO!

Una web que me gusta ver es www.thesideproject.com, trata sobre el skate femenino en California principalmente y está en ingles. Es una web sencilla, pero el contenido es buenisimo, y el nivel de skate en chicas también. Por ejemplo aquí les dejo algunos videos que me han gustado de esa web (Metansen para ver más).

Slightly Stoopid, one of my favorites...

Slightly Stoopid empezaron en el instituto como una banda skate-punk del sur de California. Los fundadores, Miles Doughty y Kyle McDonald, firmaron su primer contrato discográfico antes de graduarse. Con el tiempo, su sonido se ha hecho más alegre, influenciado por el hip-hop, el dub y el reggae. El grupo hizo muchas giras y han estado en las listas Billboard sin sacrificar su estética original ni su base de fans.

Han actuado hasta 200 veces en un año y sus shows suelen durar unas generosas dos horas. Su compromiso con los fans les ha granjeado una sólida lealtad durante más de una década. Sin olvidar que fueron fichados y apadrinados por el desaparecido Bradley Nowell (No habra otro igual). Apenas para ir a la playita la musica de estos compas.

World Junior Champion Laura Enever Discusses Her Win at Narrabeen. By Cybil Oechsle

A North Narrabeen prodigy, 17-year-old Laura Enever has reached a milestone of sorts in her young career as a professional surfer. When this down-to-earth Aussie native gets time away from photo shoots and traveling with the Roxy team, she trains at home with the likes of Barton Lynch and other male World Champions. Hurricane Laura is a worldwide phenomenon blowing through one prestigious contest after the next seizing titles such as the 2008 Quiksilver ISA World Junior Championship, 2009 Billabong Pro Junior Coffs Harbour, and 2008 Triple Crown Rookie of the Year.

Laura’s most recent victory, the 2009 Billabong World Pro Junior Championship, congregated the world’s best juniors in North Narrabeen to battle in decent 2- to 3-foot surf. With a homebreak advantage, Laura dominated every heat wearing a red rash guard and a smile.

The ASP World Tour, el Caribe de nuevo sera casa de otro Mundial del Surf

Rip Curl Pro Search will relocate “Somewhere in the Caribbean” for 2010

Rip Curl International has today revealed that the Rip Curl Pro Search – the ASP World Tour’s only globally-mobile surfing tournament – will call “somewhere in the Caribbean” home this year, from October 30 to November 10.

The announcement comes on the eve of this season’s first ASP World Tour event (Gold Coast, February 27) and is exciting news for the world’s best male and female surfers as they finalize preparations for the busy year ahead. Although the official location won’t be unveiled until the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach event in April, today’s leak is sure to silence some of the potential destination rumors.

“We’re excited to get that news off our chest,” says Scott Hargreaves, Rip Curl International Event Manager. “There have been rumors galore and lots of gossip, but we’ve done a pretty good job of keeping things secret yet again.”

“This year’s event is going to be a new experience for everyone and will definitely take a few people by surprise. The Caribbean is home to some beautiful countries and many A-grade waves, so it’s sure to be an exotic and eventful adventure.”

The Rip Curl Pro Search has enjoyed a colorful and very successful few years since it’s launch in 2005. The event has moved from Reunion Island to Mexico, Chile, Bali and Portugal respectively, scoring amazing surf at each spot.

“The Rip Curl Pro Search is always the event I most look forward to and I know it’s also a favorite for the rest of the guys and girls tour,” says Mick Fanning, reigning ASP World Champion and two-time defending Rip Curl Pro Search champion.

“It’s exciting checking out somewhere new each year and seeing how the world’s best surfers adapt to the new waves. Throwing a random stop in the schedule evens the field too, because generally speaking nobody on tour has spent much time at the spots Rip Curl chooses to run these Search events.”

“The Caribbean looks insane! I’ve never been there but I’ve been checking out a lot of footage on the net and there definitely seems to be plenty of quality breaks down that way,” continued Fanning. “Everyone I’ve asked about the place says the waves can get super punchy, which I love, so fingers crossed it delivers when we’re there.”

Rip Curl and the ASP will announce the official location for the 2010 Rip Curl Pro Search during the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach live webcast, in the break between the semi-finals and the final, March 30 to April 10.
